So I got to hike Cathedral Rock today with my chick and it was a perfect day for it. cloud cover for most of the day and the tiniest bit of sprinkle toward the top. I have been up here before with some mah dudes but it was a first for Lina and our relatively new rescue Mowgli ( Staffordshire Terrier mix ) who up until recently wouldn't walk on his own at all due to PTSD from hanging out with assholes before we adopted him. Humans suck.
Anyway, the hike is about 3-4 miles roundtrip and an elevation gain of around 1300 ft. The trail starts with the trail snaking up and about a third of the way up at the end of a trail corner the trail splits and can continues south to a seep which has water flowing in the spring and other times depending on rainfall i guess. Cool little spot to hang out in the shade of Evergreens and Aspens and make out with your other.
Once you get to the top of the snake the trail gets nice and easy as you get to enjoy the views of the valley also under shade of the mountain itself. After this little easy bit you get a few steep switchbacks then your homefree. Theres a ledge if you keep heading toward the view that you can climb down and have lunch or a beer. The Palmers chipmunk and its evil posse hang out up here so be careful, theyre brave little fuckers. And also creep pets out with their ability to stare down. My advice. dont back down. be a goddam savage. Then slowly walk away.
